MellowDays values your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
- Voice Data: Recorded only during active voice interactions (when you tap the speak button or during a live call). Audio is streamed in real-time to our AI service provider for processing and is not permanently stored by us or the service provider beyond the duration of processing.
- Chat History: Your conversations with the AI companion, encrypted and stored in the cloud for continuity.
- Location: Accessed only when you press the SOS button, to share with your emergency contact.
- Email & Name: Collected via Sign in with Apple for account identification. Used only for account management and support.
- Reminders: Your reminder settings, encrypted and stored locally and in the cloud.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide AI voice companion services, including real-time voice conversations
- Send medication, weather, and daily reminders
- Contact your family in emergencies
- Manage your account and subscription
3. Data Security
- All data is transmitted via TLS encryption
- Cloud data is encrypted at rest
- You can delete all your data at any time in Settings
4. Third-Party Services
- We use OpenAI for AI conversation and real-time voice services. Voice audio is streamed to OpenAI's servers for processing and is not retained beyond the session. Please refer to OpenAI's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling practices.
- We use Firebase (Google Cloud) for secure data storage, authentication, and push notifications. All communications are encrypted in transit.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. Conversation history and memory data are retained while your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
6. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States through our service providers (OpenAI and Google Cloud/Firebase). These transfers are necessary to provide our services. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to view, modify, or delete your personal information. Select "Delete My Account" in Settings to erase all cloud data. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have the following rights:
- EEA/UK residents (GDPR): Right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data. Our legal basis for processing is your consent and the performance of our service contract.
- California residents (CCPA): Right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

8. Children's Privacy
MellowDays is not intended for users under 13 years of age (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
